THAMES is loud. THAMES is dark. THAMES is a four headed postpunk band based around lead singer & guitarist Merlyn Baartman. With family ties to Suffolk, England he’s no stranger to the British (and Irish) punk & new wave influences (i.e. The Cure, Fontaines D.C. and IDLES). Although his UK predecessors have proven to be a great source of inspiration, it was only until his move to Amsterdam that he realised how emotionally closed off the British sometimes actually can be. THAMES aims to be the conductor and accelerant of the current change towards emancipation and toxic masculinity. Although change can sometimes be quite slow, Thames makes sure to combine high energy morality with a modern postpunk sound.
